LIFE'S PRIORITIES

Original version: Nobody cleans a house faster than a man expecting to get laid.

The version I've heard: Nobody cleans faster than a nigger about to get pussy.

My reply: I guess you can take the man out of the Bronx but you can't take the Bronx out of the man.

REBEL

Rebellion is when you look at society in the face and say I understand who you want me to be but I'm going to show you who I actually am.

DON'T WASTE THAT SHIT

Love your life. Take pictures of everything. Tell people you love them. Talk to random strangers. Do things that you are scared to do. Fuck it, because so many of us die and no one remembers a thing we did. Take your life and make it the best in the world. Don't waste that shit.

You can't do epic shit with basic people.

DECISIONS

Time decides who you meet in your life, your heart decides who you want in your life and your behavior decides who stays in your life.

ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE

 All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms.
Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress’ eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon’s mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slippered pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

As You Like It,
Act II, Scene VII
[All the world’s a stage]
William Shakespeare, 1564 - 1616

IT'S HER BODY

I have an idea for you pro-lifers out there.

Instead of protesting outside a legal abortion clinic, why don't you go inside the clinic. Every time a young lady walks in the clinic with the intention of having an abortion, you tell them that it's not necessary. It is not necessary because you are there to sign the papers stating you intention to adopt and care for the unborn child. You assures her that you will love and nurture that child for the rest of its life. You also tell her that she has nothing to worry about because you will be handling all of her medical bills during her pregnancy.

And if you don't wait to do all of those things, perhaps you should stay the fuck out of her business

Also, let's get this straight here.
Pro-choice does not mean pro-abortion.
Just because someone supports a woman's right to choose does not mean that they advocate for abortions. It only means that they respect a woman's right to choose.

SHE'S A TIGER

I like you. I liked you the first time I laid eyes on you.
I said, "she's a tiger, she belongs to me."

I FIGHT LIKE A GIRL

I'm a grown woman. I'm not a fucking princess. I have an attitude, opinions, a very loud voice, and one hell of a right hook. Believe me when I say I got this shit.
I have always advocate everyone I know, especially ladies to learn self-defense. Krav Maga works for me because of my practical lifestyle and mindset. Refinery29: Be A Badass provides a short introduction video of what Krav Maga is about.

Krav Maga: So that one may walk in peace.
Because all some people really need, is a palm strike to the face and a knee to the groin.
And I'd rather be the weapon than need one.

My daddy taught me never to throw the first punch but you bet your sweet ass I'll throw the last one.
So touch me and your first Krav Maga lesson is free 😉

50 Shades of KravMaga

No dear, I didn't get these cuts from being beaten by a man. I got them during Krav Maga when I was beating the shit out of some guy.

And yes, if you must know. I did use Krav Maga on a crazy guy that came at me in the subway while I was on my way home. I was also wearing heels that day.

CONFIDENCE IS BEAUTY

I Am Enough by Molly Mahar

I am full of sparkle and compassion. I genuinely want to make the world a better place. I love hard. I practice kindness. I am not afraid the truth. I am loyal, adventurous, supportive, and surprising. I am a woman. I am enough. I make mistakes, but I own them and learn from them. Sometimes I make a bunch of mistakes too.

I an enough. I am open, juicy, artistic, full blast. I am also vain, emotional, demanding, and looking for answers. I am a woman who is open to mysteries, accepting of miracles. I am diving in, devouring, loving, protecting, peeling back the surface of petty desires to the hunger for connection, for belief, and for truth.

I am less concerned with doing things correctly than I once was more concerned with dancing, drumming, swimming naked.

I accept that a sense of wonder is something to cultivate. I accept that I sometimes self medicate with alcohol, with filling my life full of busyness, with doing into self imposed isolation. I accept that I crave financial abundance, a freedom to do what I want, when I want it. I am still enough.

I am a lover of ripe mangoes, stars in the midnight sky. stories around the campfire, the smell of rich coffee, laughing until I can't breathe, having someone reach for my hand. I am a lover, a sister, a storyteller, a daughter, a mentor, and a student.

I am enough.
And I know in my deepest heart -- you are enough too.

WE ARE ALL SALESPEOPLE

The 10 Scrolls From the Greatest Salesman in the World by OG Mandino

1. Today I begin a new life. I will form good habits and become their slave.

2. I will greet this day with love in my heart, and I will succeed.

3. I will persist until I succeed, and I will win.

4. I am nature's greatest miracle. I will win, I will become a great salesman, for I am unique.

5. I will live this day as if it's my last. And if it is not, I shall fall to my knees and give thanks.

6. Today I will be master of my emotions.
If I feel depressed, I will sing.
If I feel sad, I will laugh.
If I feel ill, I will double my labor.
If I feel inferior, I will wear new garments.
If I feel uncertain, I will raise my voice.
If I feel poverty, I will think of wealth to come.
If I feel incompetent, I will remember past success.
If I feel insignificant, I will remember my goals.

I will become the master of myself, I will become great.
If I become overconfident, I will recall my failures.
If I become overindulged, I will think of my past hunger.
If I enjoy moments of greatness, I will remember moments of shame.
If I feel all-powerful, I will try to stop the wind.
If I attained great wealth, I would remember one unfed mouth.
If I become overly proud, I will remember a moment of weakness.
If I feel my skill is unmatched, I will look at the stars.

7. I will laugh at the world. I will be happy. I will be successful. I will be the greatest salesman the world has ever known.

8. Today I will multiply my value a hundredfold. And when it is done, I will do it again, and again, and there will be astonishment and wonder at my greatness as the words of these scrolls are fulfilled in me.

9. I will act now. My dreams are worthless, my plans are dust, my goals are impossible. All are of no value unless they are followed by action.

10. I will pray for guidance. Help this humble salesman. Guide me, God.

YIN & YANG

To be a good warrior, you must bring it all into balance.

Earth, sky.
Day, night.
Sound and silence.
Dark and light.
One alone is not enough.
You need both together.
Winter, summer.
Moon and sun.

Lesson number one.
Like a rock, you must be hard.
Like an oak, you must stand firm.
Cut quick like my blade.
Think fast, unafraid.

But if you are still out of balance, you're only halfway there.

Like a cloud, you are soft.
Like bamboo, you bend in the wind.
Creeping slowly, you can fly.
You're at peace because you know it's okay to be afraid.

DON'T DIE A COPY

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

USA, THIS IS HOME

This is home. They say that you can make your home wherever you feel. I've been making a lot of things lately. Maybe home hasn't been one of them. It's not just a hobby anymore, this is my life. And I'm grateful for that. But sometime you have to step back and give yourself a chance to look around. This is where I have arrived. And every turn is life outside of mine. There is something about this place, you see its past all around of you and all you want is to be a part of its future. Every turn I step out I find something that inspires me. I don't feel like I need anything at all, expect to see and experience more. But I don't take it for granted. The city is so full of life, you sometimes don't know where you fit in and maybe that's the point. I realized this place just see whats here and what came before. It doesn't ask you to change your ways or how you look at the world, the simple thing they want you to discover is you. To find yourself inside its walls and out on the streets, to show you the answers to all your hesitations, questions and dreams is right there in your own reflations. And few places will show you that, Which is why no matter what comes next, for me, for now, this is home.

LIVE THE LIFE THAT PEOPLE WRITE NOELS ABOUT

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
Ane be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To whee it bend in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, just as far,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Through as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence;
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

HOW YOU ARE DEFINED

You are not your bra-size, nor are you the width of your waist, not you the slenderness of your calves. You are not your hair color, your skin color, nor are you a shade of lipstick. Your shoe size is of no consequence. You are not defined by the amount of attention you get from males, females, or any combination thereof. You are not the number of sit-ups you can do, not the number of calories you consume in a day. You are not your mustache. You are not the hair on your legs. You are not a little red dress. You are not the amalgam of theses things.

You are the content of your character. You are the ambitions that drive you. You are the goals that you set. You are the things that you laugh at and the words you say You are the thoughts you think and the things you wonder. You are the beautiful and desirable not for the clique you attend but for the spark of life within you that compels you to make your life a full and meaningful one. You are beautiful not for the shape of the vessel, but for the volume of the soul it carries.

I AM A BAD FEMINIST

I embrace the label of bad feminist because I am human.
I am messy. I am not trying to be an example. I am not trying to be perfect.
I am not trying to say I have all the answers.
I am not trying to say I'm right.
I am just trying - trying to support what I believe in, trying to do some good in this world, trying to make some noise with my writing while also being myself.
